This Bollywood actress faced intense trolling for her body, with cruel remarks about her appearance. The criticism went beyond just online hate, as one director even went so far as to label her ‘unlucky,’ damaging her career prospects. This harsh judgment left a lasting mark on her early years in the industry.
During her struggling days, Vidya Balan was offered a film Chakram alongside South superstar Mohanlal, which made her ecstatic. There was a time when she signed 12 films in just six months. But fate wasn’t on her side. Due to a fallout between Mohanlal and the director, the film was abruptly stopped and never completed. Vidya was blamed for the failure, and the media labeled her “unlucky.”
Vidya Balan shared how she endured rejection for three years, which left her completely shattered. “The fire inside me kept me from giving up. Every night, I would cry and tell myself, ‘This is the last night I’m giving up.’ But by morning, I would rise again. I prayed a lot, and that gave me strength,” she revealed.
Because of the ‘bad luck’ tag, producers started replacing her in films. Vidya confessed that she was dropped from several projects due to this stigma.
Vidya recalled an incident while shooting for a Tamil film when the producer refused to meet her. Later, she discovered that she had been removed from the film. The producer had claimed, “I checked her horoscope, and she’s unlucky.”
Vidya further shared how her parents went to Chennai to confront the producer, demanding an explanation. The producer’s response was, “Does she even look like an actress?” Vidya always dreamed of becoming an actress since childhood. She said that after watching Madhuri Dixit in Tezaab, she was determined to become just like her.
After being ousted from several films, Vidya began to hate not just the people around her but also herself. “I fought a long battle with my body. I started to hate it, and I was really angry,” she admitted. However, Vidya eventually worked on her fitness, winning hearts with her incredible acting in Bollywood and becoming one of the most respected actresses in the industry.
