Anil Kumble, a leg-spinner, delivered an epic spell at the SCG during India's 2003-2004 tour of Australia. Despite the pitch offering little help to bowlers, Kumble bowled 46.5 overs in Australia's first innings, claiming eight wickets. Australia were dismissed for 474 in their first innings.

India's standout bowler Prasanna has been exceptional against Australia. In the host's second innings, Erapalli Prasanna had the Australian batsmen trapped in his spinning web. After the second innings, Australia found themselves 265 runs behind India. Prasanna, using his off-spin, first bowled out Craig Serjeant and then claimed three more wickets. The home side was dismissed for 263, and India secured a victory by an innings and two runs.
