Bollywood actress, known for her appearance alongside Rajesh Khanna in the 2008 film Wafa: A Deadly Love Story, lived a life filled with mystery and ended in tragedy. Born as Reshma Patel in 1978, her life came to a shocking end on January 30, 2011, when she was allegedly murdered, along with some family members, by her stepfather.

Laila Khan reportedly married Munir Khan, linked to a banned group in Bangladesh. In early 2011, Laila, her mother, and several family members traveled from Mumbai to their holiday home in Igatpuri, Maharashtra. Shortly after, all of them went missing. This disappearance raised suspicions, leading to a search for answers.

Laila’s father, Nadir Shah Patel, filed a missing persons report and sought help from the Bombay High Court. A Bollywood director who worked with Laila also reported her disappearance. Investigations pointed to her stepfathers, Parvez Iqbal Tak and Asif Sheikh, as key suspects. Tak, arrested in June 2012 by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for another case, initially confessed to killing Laila and her family. He claimed the murders took place at the Igatpuri home, and the bodies were buried near the bungalow. However, Tak later changed his statement, adding to the confusion surrounding the case.

Eventually, Tak and Asif Sheikh confessed to the Mumbai Crime Branch about their involvement. In a gruesome discovery, police found six bodies buried near Laila’s Igatpuri bungalow. These were believed to be the remains of Laila and her family.
