Leading Through the Labyrinth of Service Delivery: A Voyage of Leadership, Innovation and Continuous Improvement – Srikanthudu Avancha https://www.india.com/business/leading-through-the-labyrinth-of-service-delivery-a-voyage-of-leadership-innovation-and-continuous-improvement-srikanthuduavancha-7509085/ Thu, 02 Jan 2025 07:42:01 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7509085 In a world of technology and service delivery that changes day in and day out, and moves forward at the speed of a bullet, few stand out to make sure that the commitment to excellence remains unaltered. Having led large IT projects, programs and operations, driving successful continuous service improvements, and cross-functional teams, time and over again, Srikanthudu (Srikanth) has demonstrated the ability to innovate, inspire, and deliver. From his journey and insights to what it takes to excel in such a dynamic realm of service delivery, we find out in this exclusive interview with him.

Q1: Srikanth, you have a wide range of experiences in service delivery and IT management. What drew you to this field, and how did it all begin for you?

A: The interest in service delivery actually initiated my journey with a fascination toward how technology can solve some of the complex business problems. Soon after my Master’s in Computer Applications, the power of IT dawned on me: not merely in development, but in seamless delivery and continuous improvement. As part of my experience working with with Satyam Computer Services, first-hand experience in managing IT services across various regions: UK, US, and Europe. Working on those transformational initiatives fairly early on catalyzed my interest in service delivery, and I knew this was the path I wanted to undertake.

Q2: You have led large teams across diverse geographies. How do you ensure high performance and collaboration across such diverse groups?

A: Leading a cross-functional, geographically dispersed team is a fair amount of work; at the same time, it is wonderfully rewarding. The key is in building a strong culture of collaboration and open communication. I have led teams of more than 45 members, across Europe and India. What has always worked is standardizing processes and clearly defining roles. Once the SOPs are well defined, everyone knows their role, wherever they may be. Besides, regular communication and performance appraisals align and motivate the team to always go an extra mile.

Q3: What, in your opinion, are some of the high-water moments for you as far as service delivery is concerned?

A:I have been pretty lucky to lead quite a few initiatives that had a lasting impact. Most important was in a big organization wherein service profitability improved by 15% and delivered 10% year-over-year savings through continuous service improvements. The other was transitioning critical support processes while leading 45+ member team across Europe and India. Building a cross-functional support model, establishing contracts with vendors to optimize costs, were some of the things that enabled these successes. Each one of them taught me something new, and that’s actually what’s been driving my passion for innovation.

Q4: Continuous service improvement is an echoing theme in your career; please elaborate on this imperative and how you go about it.

A: Since technology and customers’ expectations are dynamic, service delivery has to improve continually. There is no scope for stagnation. I do this through a continuous assessment of ongoing activities by spotting opportunities to further optimize them. Sometimes, by reducing response times, improving profitability, or adopting best practices from other industries, always remain scope for further improvement. One such project which I am proud of is how we improved on SLA adherence by increasing the response times and reducing the turn around time for critical issues by bringing the KEDB (Known Error Database) for one of our major clients. Continuous evaluation and problem-solving proactively keep the service delivery relevant and efficient.

Q5: Kindly let us know about your experience in client relationship management and how that helped your success?

A: Client relationships form the backbone of successful service delivery. Knowing their needs and aligning our services to meet or beat those expectations has always been my top priority. I have been involved with the management of relationships with clients from various sectors; what really works in all of these is listening, adapting, and delivering on promises. Building trust is about confidence gained through regular check-ins, flowing transparent communication, or offering solutions tailored just for them. It is this that fosters loyalty and opens more avenues for growth and collaboration.

Q6: You have taken teams through some pretty challenging transformations. What do you believe is most important about leading through change?

A: Leading through change requires a clear vision and effective communication. In the transition of support processes to a cross-functional group-based model, communicating ‘why’ was an important reason for the change. People don’t like change, but once the purpose is communicated and the benefits are realized, they become more engaged. Throughout the change process, I kept reinforcing transparency, continuous support to my team, and making sure everyone has what it takes to be successful. Leadership to me is a way to guide people confidently through that gray area of uncertainty.

Q7: How do you ensure that your teams remain agile and can adapt to an ever-changing industry?

A: Agility is key in today’s fast-moving environment, and it starts in the mind. I empower my teams to be change-embracing and challenges as opportunities. We use frameworks such as Scrum to stay flexible and adapt. Having been a Certified Scrum Master myself, I have inculcated agile principles into our daily operations, which enable us to respond swiftly to changing client needs and market conditions. Regular feedback loops and sprint reviews help us stay in tune with business objectives while remaining nimble enough to alter course promptly when needed.

Q8: Throughout your career, in what ways has vendor management been applicable, and how do you ensure success in these partnerships?

A: Vendor management has played a very important role in my career, mainly regarding optimizing costs and enriching service quality. Mutual trust and clear communication are the chemistry on which a successful vendor relationship is built. I have led multiple vendor selection processes, negotiated the contracts that were both cost-effective and in alignment with our strategic goals. Ensuring vendors understand your standards of service delivery and are as committed to meeting those standards is a key aspect of managing vendors. I have been able to drive better outcomes for both the vendor and the client by fostering relationships that are collaborative.

Q9: You have worked on large IT projects, managing a really complex array of stakeholders. How do you go about prioritizing and balancing the needs of different stakeholders?

A: Stakeholder management is all about prioritization and clear communication. Managing large IT projects usually means juggling competing interests; hence, alignment of stakeholders should be done right from the beginning itself. So, I have worked very closely with business teams, internal departments, and external stakeholders to gather and prioritize requirements. The key is to set clear goals for projects right from the outset and ensure that everybody involved in the value chain is aligned on what needs to be delivered and when. Regular status updates and transparency of communication help with expectation management and make for smooth project flows.

Q10: What advice would you give to aspiring leaders in the service delivery space?

A: To the upcoming leaders, my advice is simple: never stop learning, be adaptive, and always keep your eyes on the big picture. Service delivery keeps on changing day in, day out; thus, you need to be open to new ideas, technical innovations, and process improvements continuously. Create good relations with your team, clients, and vendors, and remember that to lead means to serve. The most successful leaders I have seen were the ones for whom growth in a team and the success of clients stood far above any of their accolades.

Conclusion:
The story of Srikanth Avancha is that of grit, continuous improvement, and good leadership. Whether it is leading global teams or driving cost-saving innovation in service delivery, his manner of approach has surely raised the bar higher for the industry. With Srikanth still shaping the future of IT service management, this already is a story of inspiration for aspiring leaders and seasoned professionals alike-a reminder that success indeed lies in the details and relentless pursuit of excellence.

India to become the country with highest Muslims by…; its population is estimated to be….; Hindu population to… https://www.india.com/viral/india-to-become-the-country-with-highest-muslims-by-its-population-is-estimated-to-be-hindu-population-to-decline-by-7508875/ Thu, 02 Jan 2025 07:05:10 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7508875 New Delhi: The world’s population is growing at an accelerated rate, leading to significant changes in global demographics. This increase brings both challenges and opportunities for nations, influencing various aspects of society, the economy, and the environment. Meanwhile, Earth is home to a diverse range of religions, including Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism, and Sikhism. But did you know India will have the largest Muslim population by 2050? Read this story to know more…

India to become the country with highest Muslims by…; its population is estimated to be….; Hindu population to …

As per a report by the Pew Research Center, India is projected to surpass Indonesia and become the country with the highest Muslim population by 2050, with an estimated 311 million Muslims. In the same report, titled ‘The Future of World Religions: Population Growth Projections, 2010-2050,’ Pakistan is expected to have the second-largest Muslim population, reaching 273 million. Indonesia, which had the largest Muslim population in 2010, is expected to drop to third place with 257 million Muslims by 2050.

Projected Global Muslim Population, 2010-2050

The report also highlights that Hindus are expected to become the third-largest religious group globally. By 2050, India will have 310 million Muslims, accounting for 11% of the global Muslim population. Additionally, India is projected to maintain the largest Hindu population, which will grow to 1.03 billion. Currently, Indonesia holds the title for the country with the largest Muslim population.

A study by the Pew Research Center attributes the rising Muslim population primarily to the younger age and higher fertility rate. The average age of Muslims is 22 years, compared to 26 years for Hindus and 28 years for Christians. In India, Muslim women have an average of 3.2 children per woman, while Hindu women have 2.5 children, and Christian women have 2.3 children on average.

Speaking of the report, the global Hindu population is expected to grow from just over 1 billion in 2010 to nearly 1.4 billion by 2050, keeping pace with the overall population increase. Consequently, as a result, Hindus will remain fairly stable as a share of the world’s population over the next four decades, at about 15% in both 2010 and 2050.

In 2010, India and Nepal were the only countries where Hindus constituted the majority of the population, and they are anticipated to remain the only Hindu-majority countries in 2050.

In 2010, Hindus were the largest religious group in the Asia-Pacific region. However, by 2050, Muslims are projected to outnumber Hindus in the region. “The annual growth rate of the world’s population is expected to decline gradually in the coming decades, falling from 1.1% in 2010-2015 to 0.4% in 2045-2050. The annual growth rate of Hindus is expected to remain roughly on par with world population growth through 2030-2035, after which it is projected to drop below the worldwide level. By 2045, Hindus are expected to be growing by about 0.2% annually, or roughly half as fast as the global population overall, largely as a result of declining fertility rates in India, ” reads the report.

World Hindu Population by Region, 2010 and 2050

Speaking of regional distribution of Hindus, slight decreases are forecast for sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America, and the Caribbean in 2050.

Change in Regional Distribution of Hindus, 2010 vs. 2050

Hindus are anticipated to make up about 77% of India’s population in 2050, down slightly from 80% in 2010. As of 2010, more than 99% of all Hindus lived in the 10 countries with the largest numbers of Hindus. Outside of India, the countries with the largest Hindu populations in 2010 were Nepal (24.2 million, or 2% of the world’s Hindus) and Bangladesh (12.7 million, or 1% of the world’s Hindus). The only countries outside the Asia-Pacific region that ranked among the top 10 largest Hindu populations as of 2010 were the United States and the United Kingdom.

By 2050, the United States – with 4.8 million Hindus – is expected to have the world’s fifth-largest Hindu population. In addition, Canada, with a projected 1 million Hindus in 2050, is forecast to join the list of countries with the 10 largest Hindu populations.

Projected Population Change in Countries With Largest Hindu Populations in 2010

Due to the high fertility rate, the Muslim population in India is expected to grow rapidly. In 2010, Muslims accounted for 14.4% of the total population, and by 2050, this is expected to rise to 18.4%.

Reports suggest that India’s Hindu population is expected to surpass the Muslim populations of the largest Muslim-majority countries, including India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Bangladesh. The report also indicates that India’s Christian population, which currently stands at 2.5% of the total population, will decrease to 2.3% by 2050.

According to the study, with a Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of 2.4 children per woman, Hindus have about the same fertility levels as the world’s overall population (2.5) in the 2010-2015 period.  The study reads,”Between 2040 and 2050, the global Hindu TFR is expected to drop to 1.8, which is below the replacement level and will slow the growth of the Hindu population. This trend reflects United Nations expectations about future fertility patterns in India, where most Hindus reside.”

In addition, it also has its military, the Swiss Guard, which is responsible for the Pope’s safety.

The salary of soldiers in this country is Rs 10000000, never fight wars; their modern weapons will stun you

Vatican City’s army, the smallest in the world, is known as the Swiss Guard. The privileges granted to the soldiers of this army are truly unbelievable.

Vatican City is one of the world’s smallest countries, covering approximately 100 acres and housing fewer than a thousand residents. Despite its small size, millions of people visit it each year.

The army of this tiny country is remarkably small, consisting of fewer than 150 soldiers. These dedicated guards are entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the Pope. Furthermore, they pledge to risk their lives, even making the ultimate sacrifice, to ensure his protection.

The Swiss Guard is among the oldest military corps in the world. To join, candidates must meet specific criteria: they must be Swiss and Catholic. Only men are eligible for recruitment, and they must be unmarried. Applicants must also be between 19 and 30 years old and stand at least 5’8″ (174 cm) tall.

While the Swiss Guard, tasked with protecting Vatican City and the Pope, never engages in combat, its soldiers receive a handsome salary. According to the media reports, their monthly earnings range from €1,500 to €3,600, which is approximately Rs 4.5 lakh.

According to several media reports, Swiss Guard soldiers receive a 13-month salary, along with significant perks. These include free housing, tax-free shopping, school fees for their children, and 30 days of annual leave. With their benefits and salary combined, their total earnings can amount to approximately Rs 1 crore annually. Every year, recruits take an oath and sign a two-year contract to serve the Pope. While the halberd is the traditional weapon of the Swiss Guard, soldiers are also trained in using modern small firearms, including the recently introduced stun guns. Their uniforms stand out with bright, colorful patterns, and their caps feature feathers.

No need of mobile tower for calling? This advanced satellite will enable direct mobile phone calls through space, showcasing revolutionary technology in the field. This marks the first time an American company is launching a large communications satellite from India through a dedicated launch on an Indian rocket. Until now, India has only launched smaller satellites built by American companies.

No need of mobile tower for calling? Your smartphone will connect through space, ISRO’s ‘Baahubali’ to make history, launch expected in…

According to an NDTV report, India’s Science Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh, revealed that “In February or March we will be launching a US satellite for mobile communication, this satellite will enable voice communication on mobile phones. It will be an interesting mission”.

The identity of the American satellite operator has not been confirmed by the minister or the Indian space agency ISRO, but experts confirm that it is AST SpaceMobile, a Texas-based company, planning to launch its large communication satellite from Sriharikota. The US company has stated that users can make voice calls using any smartphone with their services. In contrast, most other satellite-based Internet and voice providers require subscribers to purchase special handsets or terminals, as Starlink does.

According to reports from American media, Abel Avellan, CEO of AST SpaceMobile, revealed in an investor call last year that the company plans to use the Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) to launch a single Block 2 Bluebird satellite.

Each Bluebird satellite will feature an antenna spanning 64 square meters, roughly half the size of a football field. Weighing nearly 6,000 kilograms, the satellite will be placed into low Earth orbit by India’s rocket. Earlier, Abel Avellan stated that the company “invented a technology that connects satellites directly to ordinary cell phones and provides broadband internet through the largest ever commercial phase array in low Earth orbit”.

An ISRO expert stated that this satellite will enable “direct-to-mobile communication,” and the company plans to place several large satellites into Earth’s orbit to support this groundbreaking technology. ISRO experts confirmed that AST SpaceMobile has enlisted the services of India’s “Baahubali” rocket, the Launch Vehicle Mark-3, to launch the Bluebird satellite.

This is a significant boost for ISRO, as even American companies are now placing their trust in India’s LVM-3, which has a perfect success record. Prior to this, LVM-3 had two dedicated commercial launches to deploy satellites for the OneWeb constellation, in which Bharti Enterprises holds a major stake. Bharti Enterprises also owns the Indian telecom service Airtel.

According to an NDTV report, ISRO experts have clarified that this is a fully commercial launch managed by New Space India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of the Department of Space. India is only offering a launch service for the American satellite, with no further participation.

According to the HindustanTimes report, the Centre has granted prosecution sanction to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Kumar Rajeev Ranjan. He is implicated in the notorious arms license scam of Jammu and Kashmir. Hailing from Bihar, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan is a 2010 batch Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre IAS officer. If media reports are believed, Ranjan secured the All India Rank (AIR) 866th in the UPSC Civil Services examination.

Confirming the death toll, New Orleans Coroner Dwight McKenna stated, “As of now, 15 people are deceased. It will take several days to perform all autopsies. Once we complete the autopsies and talk with the next of kin, we will release the identifications of the victims.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stated that it does not believe Shamsud Din Jabbar, the car driver who carried out the New Orleans attack, was “solely responsible” for the ‘act of terrorism’. Jabbar rammed his car into a crowd on Bourbon Street during New Year’s celebrations, killing 10 people and injuring 35 others.

Biden confirms probe into ‘possible connection’ between New Orleans attack and Las Vegas Cybertruck explosion

Concerned about the attack and the safety of citizens, United States President Joe Biden expressed his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the FBI is leading the investigation and treating the incident as an act of terrorism. He assured that he would continue to receive updates throughout the day and provide further information as it becomes available.

He extended his condolences to the victims and their families, emphasizing that they were simply trying to celebrate the holiday. The President condemned the violence, asserting that there is no justification for such acts, and affirmed that any attack on the nation’s communities would not be tolerated.

“I have been continually briefed since early this morning regarding the horrific incident that occurred in New Orleans overnight. The FBI is taking the lead in the investigation and is investigating this incident as an act of terrorism. I will continue to receive updates throughout the day, and I will have more to say as we have further information to share. My heart goes out to the victims and their families who were simply trying to celebrate the holiday. There is no justification for violence of any kind, and we will not tolerate any attack on any of our nation’s communities,” reads United States President Joe Biden’s post.

Driver in New Orleans ‘act of terrorism’ not….; here’s what the FBI said

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stated on Wednesday (local time) that it does not believe Shamsud Din Jabbar, the driver behind the New Orleans attack, was “solely responsible” for the act of terrorism. “The subject has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen from Texas. He was driving a Ford pickup truck, which appears to have been rented, and we are working to confirm how the subject came into possession of the vehicle,” the FBI in an official release said.

The suspect was found with an ISIS flag and multiple suspected explosive devices in the car while carrying out the attack, which the FBI has classified as “an act of terrorism.” FBI said, “Weapons and a potential IED were located in the subject’s vehicle. Other potential IEDs were also located in the French Quarter. The FBI’s special agent bomb technicians are working with our law enforcement partners to determine if any of these devices are viable, and they will work to render those devices safe.”

Earlier, President-elect Donald Trump reignited the debate over immigration and crime following the car-ramming incident, accusing Democrats of dismissing his warnings about criminal migration into the US. In a post on Truth Social, Trump remarked,”When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before. Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!.”

Big twist in Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict as Russia steps in; why is Putin feeling threatened? https://www.india.com/news/world/big-twist-in-pakistan-afghanistan-conflict-as-russia-steps-in-why-is-putin-feeling-threatened-7508094/ Thu, 02 Jan 2025 01:18:10 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7508094 Kabul: Tensions have heightened along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, with both nations carrying out cross-border attacks across the Durand Line. Afghanistan has a complicated history with Pakistan. While Pakistan welcomed the Taliban in Kabul as a natural ally, the Taliban government is proving to be less cooperative than Pakistan had hoped. The current Talibani regime is trying to align itself with the nation’s rhetoric as they are trying to form a ‘government’ as a metamorphosis from a fighting group. The regime is also trying to forge relations beyond heavy reliance on Pakistan, according to Al Jazeera.

Big twist in Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict as Russia steps in; why is Putin feeling threatened?

Earlier on December 29, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, expressed Moscow’s concern over escalating tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and called for restraint from both sides. Russia’s unexpected intervention in the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict marks a significant turn of events, sparking growing concerns about what is causing Putin to feel increasingly threatened by the unfolding situation.

According to the Russian news agency TASS, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, expressed concern over the escalating tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, highlighting that both military personnel and civilians are being affected by the conflict. She urged all parties to exercise restraint and pursue constructive dialogue to resolve their differences peacefully.

“Moscow is concerned over the escalation of tensions on the Pakistani-Afghan border, where not only the military but also civilians perish in shootouts,” Zakharova was quoted as saying, according to the Russian news agency TASS. Furthermore, she said, “We are calling on the sides involved to show restraint and engage in constructive dialogue, aiming to peacefully resolve all differences.”

The statement comes in the wake of a series of violent clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Tensions escalated earlier this month after Pakistani airstrikes hit a refugee camp in Afghanistan’s Paktika Province. As per the Taliban, the strikes resulted in 46 fatalities, including women and children.

In what appeared to be a retaliatory move, the Taliban attacked Pakistani border posts in the Upper Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday. Pakistani media reported that the assault claimed the life of one soldier and left 11 others injured.

In addition, tensions between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban have been building for some time, fuelled by the ongoing presence of TTP militants in Afghanistan. While Pakistan accuses the Afghan Taliban of harbouring these militants, the Taliban insists it is not collaborating with the group.

Pakistan has repeatedly expressed concerns over the use of Afghan soil by militants for cross-border attacks, particularly in regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the issue last week, urging the Afghan government to take decisive action against the TTP, emphasising that attacks from Afghan soil were a “red line” for Pakistan. He also stated that while Pakistan is willing to engage in talks with Kabul, dialogue cannot occur alongside ongoing attacks.

Nitish Bharadwaj, renowned for his iconic role as Lord Krishna in BR Chopra’s ‘Mahabharat,’ met Smita through mutual friends. Their bond grew swiftly, with love blossoming after only a few meetings. Despite their contrasting professional worlds, they found a deep connection, ultimately deciding to embark on a journey of marriage together.

Their couple got married on March 14, 2009, marking a second chance at companionship for both. Together, they welcomed twin daughters, Devyani and Shivarjanee, who became the heart of their world. However, as life unfolds with its challenges, their love story took an unexpected turn. The couple decided to part ways in 2022 after 12 years of marriage.

As per the news agency ANI report, Bhardwaj has stated in the complaint that he married Smita Ghate, an IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, in 2009 and had twin daughters, currently aged around 11 years old. Subsequently a divorce petition is filed at the Mumbai family court and the case is pending.

According to the ANI report, the TV actor alleged that his estranged wife has denied him his rights as a father by refusing to allow him to meet their daughters. He also detailed how Smita Gate allegedly restricted his access to their daughters by frequently changing their schools.

Nitish addressed their separation with brevity, highlighting the mutual respect they shared while opting to keep the reasons private, showcasing the dignity that defined their relationship.

However, what if we tell you about an Indian genius who cracked JEE Advanced with All India Rank (AIR) 99 but decided not to take admission at IIT due to…

Meet boy, who cracked JEE Advanced with AIR 99, then dropped out of IIT counselling due to…, he is now…

In June 2023, Mohammad Sahil Akhtar cracked the IIT-JEE entrance test. He obtained an All India Rank (AIR) of 99 in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. After securing such an impressive rank, Sahil decided not to join an IIT and dropped out of IIT counselling.

It is reported that Akhtar began preparing for the IIT entrance exams from Class 10. However, in an unexpected move, he chose to withdraw from the JEE admission process and follow his dreams by pursuing an education at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) instead.

“Throughout my high school career, I have taken part in various competitive science-related events and won accolades at many of them. I represented India at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) 2022, held in Georgia, and won a Gold Medal for my nation. I am an Atlas India Fellow, KVPY Scholar (All India Rank 39, SA stream), NTSE and JBNSTS Scholar and secured 99.9848 Percentile in JEE Mains. I have also taken part enthusiastically in the Science Olympiads, and have qualified for the Astronomy Camp for Indian Team Selection thrice along with qualifying for the National Olympiads in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics,” Sahil in his LinkedIn post said.

After securing admission at MIT, Sahil wrote, “Iam delighted to let you know that I am officially comMITting to MIT, and will be calling it my home for the next four years! No amount of words will suffice to express the gratitude I feel towards all the people that have played a role in my success thus far. My family for their constant support, my teachers for their ever-present mentorship, all my friends and competitors for shaping me as a person and forcing me to keep pushing my limits everyday – I can’t stress how instrumental you people have been in building me up to this moment. I am also extremely grateful towards the MIT admissions committee for putting their confidence in me. And lastly, thank you to my past-self for his discipline, curiosity and an unwavering learning spirit.”

Mohammad Sahil Akhtar, a native of Kolkata, completed his schooling at Delhi Public School (DPS) Ruby Park. In April 2023, he took the engineering entrance exam and also launched a YouTube channel to assist aspiring candidates with guidance and tips.

“I am Sahil, a student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. I like physics, space-related stuff and anything mathematical. I also really like playing the keyboard. This channel is a space for me to give some opinions and advices to help people down the line with my experience in STEM examinations, college applications and JEE related things. Feel free to reach out to me on my LinkedIn or my Instagram! I am much less active on Instagram though,” reads the bio of his youtube channel.

As per LinkedIn profile, Sahil obtained All Indian Rank 1 in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination.

It requires dedication, patience, hard work, and perseverance to achieve one’s aims and goals. This story encapsulates the inspiring journey of Satyam Kumar, who, despite coming from a poor background, became the youngest IITian in India. He did not receive formal schooling till class 8th. How? Well, read the detailed story given below…

Satyam Kumar, the son of a farmer, made history by passing the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), one of the toughest examinations, in 2013 at just 13 years old. Meet youngest IITian of India, son of a farmer, who cleared JEE at 13, received no formal schooling till Grade 8, worked in Apple by 24, he is now…

As per his LinkedIn profile, Kumar completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Texas at Austin. He scored 292 marks in JEE Mains. Satyam has been a brilliant student from a young age, and he made history by becoming the youngest to crack one of India’s toughest exams at just 13 years old. The previous record was held by Sahal Kaushik, who achieved this feat at 14. However, it’s reported that Satyam took the JEE exam twice to achieve this milestone.

Satyam attempted the IIT-JEE in 2012 at the age of 12, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 8137. Not satisfied with the result, he appeared for the exam again. He improved significantly by securing an AIR of 679. This remarkable achievement led him to join IIT Kanpur.

Satyam was born in the Bhojpur district of Bihar. He comes from a humble background. His father, Sidhnath Singh, is a poor farmer. Going by the news agency PTI report (2013), Satyam’s uncle, Pashupati Singh, a clerk at Veer Kuer Singh College, shared that Satyam had no formal schooling until grade 8th due to the family’s financial struggles and the lack of adequate educational resources at the local government school.

Satyam began his formal education in 2007 when he enrolled in the eighth grade. After passing the Rajasthan board exams, he was admitted to Modern School in Kota. According to his uncle, Pashupati Singh, the principal of the school, R.K. Verma, took it upon himself to cover all of Satyam’s educational and coaching expenses for the IIT entrance exam, as mentioned in the report.

Satyam earned a BTech-MTech dual degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2018. Later, he pursued a Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin in 2019, determined to further his educational journey.

During his course at IIT Kanpur, Satyam contributed to three significant projects: “Optimisation of electrode positions in Different Brain Computer Interfaces”, “Electrooculogram based eye blink classification During EOG signal acquisition”, and “Imaginative Speech based Brain-Computer Interface”, India Today reported.

After finishing his studies, Satyam started his professional career at Apple. He joined as a machine learning intern at the age of 24, where he worked till August 2023. Presently, Satyam is focused on brain-computer interfaces, making notable strides as a graduate research assistant at the prestigious University of Texas at Austin, as per his LinkedIn profile.

After facing significant legal charges in the United States, his business empire is now under pressure once again, casting a shadow over his prospects. Last year, Gautam Adani was charged by US prosecutors for allegedly being part of an elaborate scheme to pay USD 265 million (about Rs 2,200 crore) bribe to Indian officials in exchange for the favourable terms for solar power contracts. Now, Tamil Nadu govt cancels smart meter tender due to…

Bad news for Gautam Adani as Tamil Nadu govt cancels smart meter tender due to…

Now, in a blow to the Adani Group, the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government has decided to cancel its global tender for the procurement of smart meters, even though Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) had been selected as the “lowest bidder” for the project. The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco), a state government entity, cancelled the smart meter procurement tender, citing the “high costs” quoted by Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), which had been the lowest bidder for one of the four packages covering eight districts, including Chennai, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu.

The proposed installation of over 8.2 million smart meters was part of a package under the Centre-funded Rs 19,000 crore Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). This scheme is designed to deploy smart meters for all electricity connections in the state, with the exception of agricultural ones.

According to a report by the Indian Express, Tangedco officials stated that the prices quoted by AESL to win the tender were “unacceptable despite negotiations to bring down the costs.” All four tenders, issued in August 2023, have been cancelled, including those for the remaining three packages covering other districts, due to “administrative reasons,” Tangedco sources were quoted as saying by Indian Express. They also mentioned that the government plans to reissue the tenders soon.

In 2024, billionaire Gautam Adani was charged by US prosecutors for allegedly being part of an elaborate scheme to pay USD 265 million (about Rs 2,200 crore) bribe to Indian officials in exchange for the favourable terms for solar power contracts.

Meanwhile, in November 2024, the Adani Group refuted the alleged bribery allegations made by the US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission against the Group’s founder and Chairman Gautam Adani his nephew Sagar Adani and MD CEO Adani Green Energy Vineet Jaain in a filing with the stock exchanges. In its filing, AGEL has cited the news reporting on the alleged bribery and corruption charges against Adani Officials as ‘Incorrect’.

Meet man who went to abroad for higher studies, left a high-paying job to prepare for the UPSC exam, cracked it 4 times, became an IPS officer, now is posted at…

IPS Amrit Jain hails from Bhilwara, Rajasthan. He earned his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from NIT Warangal and pursued higher studies at Czech Technical University. Later, he started working for a private company in Hyderabad. Soon, he developed the desire to appear for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

Amrit Jain, hailing from a modest background, took the UPSC examination for the first time in 2016 without any preparation. Reflecting on it, he admits he was overly confident, thinking that only multiple-choice questions would be asked. Naturally, this approach resulted in failure. Determined to succeed, he came fully prepared for the exam in 2017, but narrowly missed passing the prelims by just one mark.

In several media interviews, Amrit has mentioned that he did not take any coaching for UPSC preparation. After failing the prelims by just one mark, he decided to change his strategy. He began consulting multiple sources for the static portion, which was unusual but worked for him. Additionally, he took 140 mock tests within a time limit of 1 to 1.5 hours.

Amit strongly advocates for taking plenty of mock tests. He believes that giving numerous mock tests greatly helped him during the actual exam. As a result, he read the questions at least three times during the exam and remained calm and composed. This helped him perform well in the exam. Amit had chosen political science as his optional subject for the UPSC.

He attempted the UPSC exams in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. In 2018, he secured a spot on the reserve list and was selected for the Indian Defence Accounts Service. In the following years, he achieved ranks of 321, 96, and 179 in 2019, 2020, and 2021, respectively. Although he cleared the UPSC exam four times, he fell short of his dream of becoming an IAS officer. However, he doesn’t regret it, acknowledging that not everyone achieves the coveted IAS position, despite striving for it during UPSC preparation.

Amrit Jain UPSC Marks

Amrit Jain cleared the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2019 with AIR 321. Speaking of his UPSC marks, he scored 802 in the written examination, 165 in the personality test, and 967 overall. Later, Jain successfully cleared the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2020 with AIR 96. Speaking of his UPSC marks, he scored 801 in the written examination, 184 in the personality test, and 985 overall.

Once again, in 2021, Jain attempted and cracked the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021 with AIR 179. Speaking of his UPSC marks, he scored 791 in the written examination, 178 in the personality test, and 969 overall. At present, he is serving as an ASP in Aligarh district, Uttar Pradesh.
