“A nation falters when the media does not uphold the truth,” the interim government’s Home Affairs Adviser, Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, said during his visit to injured policemen at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital. He warned that the media outlets would face closure if they provided misleading news, the Dhaka Tribune newspaper reported.

Criticising the media for not presenting the truth, Hossain said, “A country deteriorates when the media fails to report honestly,” and argued that had the media accurately reported events, the current situation involving the police might have been avoided.

“The media often ignores the truth…There is a lack of substantive discussion on talk shows, and the media fails to provide accurate information,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nahid Islam, adviser for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, said action will be taken against officials involved in the internet shutdown during the recent student protests.

Bangladesh Interim Government’s Warning To Media

Talking to journalists on the first day of joining his office at the Secretariat on Sunday, Nahid emphasised that those responsible for the internet shutdown during the protests will face consequences, the Daily Star newspaper reported. He said access to the internet is a right and disrupting or shutting it down is a violation of human rights. Nahid asserted that the indiscriminate internet shutdowns will no longer be tolerated.

Bangladesh witnessed frequent Internet shutdowns during the recent protests against the Hasina government. The Information and Communication Technology Division plans to incorporate youth participation to fulfil the aspirations of the younger generation, Nahid said.

Newly-appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Mainul Islam said at least 42 members of the police force were killed and scores injured in clashes during the recent mass student movement in Bangladesh which led to the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.

Over 500 police personnel were injured and took treatment at the hospital, he was quoted as saying by the Daily Star newspaper. More than two dozen police personnel are still undergoing treatment, Islam added.

विरोधी लहर

राजस्थान अपनी सत्ता विरोधी लहर के लिए जाना जाता है और हर चुनावी साल में राज्य कांग्रेस और बीजेपी के बीच झूलता रहता है. इस बार भी, भाजपा को यकीन है कि राज्य के नागरिक सबसे पुरानी पार्टी को वोट देंगे और एक बार फिर भाजपा का स्वागत करेंगे.

सांप्रदायिकता

कई राजनेता, जिनमें अधिकतर भाजपा से हैं, मतदाताओं को लुभाने के लिए देवी-देवताओं और अयोध्या में बन रहे भव्य राम मंदिर का राग अलाप रहे हैं. प्रचार रैलियों में कन्हैया लाल हत्याकांड भी चर्चा का विषय रहा.

“जहां भी कांग्रेस सत्ता में आती है वहां के समृद्ध राज्य बर्बाद हो जाते हैं। सत्ता मिलने के बाद कांग्रेस लूट-खसोट में लग जाती है. मप्र के लोगों को सतर्क रहना होगा,” उन्होंने कहा. 2022 में उदयपुर में एक दर्जी कन्हैया लाल की हत्या का जिक्र करते हुए PM मोदी ने कहा था, “क्या हम कल्पना भी कर सकते हैं कि भारत में हम कभी ‘सर तन से जुदा’ (सिर काटने का संदर्भ) जैसा नारा सुनेंगे? लेकिन यह वीरों की भूमि – राजस्थान – में कांग्रेस के कुशासन के तहत हुआ है.

48 वर्षीय कन्हैया लाल की 28 जून, 2022 को उनकी दुकान के अंदर चाकू से हत्या कर दी गई थी. कथित तौर पर इस्लाम का अपमान करने के लिए उदयपुर के दर्जी कन्हैया लाल की हत्या की थी.

“He is ruled out of the series and will complete his rehab at NCA,” said a BCCI official. It remains to be seen if Chahar will be fit for the IPL which is expected to begin in the last week of March.

Ashwin currently in rehab for his injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), will be assessed by team management ahead of Mohali Test and hoped that left-arm spinner Axar Patel will be fit by the second Test in Bengaluru.

The T20Is against Sri Lanka begins from Lucknow on February 24 followed by second and third matches at Dharamshala on February 26 and 27. The Tests will be held in Mohali and Bengaluru from March 4 to 8 and March 12 to 16 respectively.

As per data showed by the Central Pollution Control Board, Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in ‘severe category’ in Anand Vihar and Najafgarh. Areas that saw ‘very poor category’ AQI was Mandir Marg, Ashok Vihar and Patparganj.

Meanwhile, a central government forecasting agency on Tuesday said that Delhi is witnessing an “unusual” condition and no quick recovery is predicted from the “severe” air pollution.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences” air quality monitor, SAFAR, said three major factors are responsible for this situation — secondary particle formation, extremely calm local surface winds and stubble burning-related intrusion. “Delhi’s overall AQI is in the higher end of the ‘severe’ category, which is an unusual condition,” it said.

“Due to a high moisture content, humidity has touched a new high and the air holding capacity has increased under such cool conditions, triggering rapid secondary fine particulate formation — a scientific process when gas-to-particle conversion happens and in-situ chemical production takes place on available surfaces and multiplies PM2.5,” the SAFAR added.

The extremely calm local surface winds continued to arrest all old and new accumulated pollutants, it said. “Significant stubble burning-related intrusion took place until Tuesday morning due to a favourable, transport-level wind direction and speed,” the SAFAR said.

A case has been registered against the BJP MLA and 10 others for thrashing a Municipal Corporation officer in Indore.

Claiming that he was challenging corruption, the Madhya Pradesh lawmaker told news agency ANI, “This is just the beginning, we will end this corruption & goondaism. ‘Aavedan, nivedan aur phir dana dan’ this is our line of action.”

“Gangs dragged women out of their houses by their feet, women police should’ve been with them. When I reached there, people got angry at the officers & chased them away, we have come to the station to register FIR against the officers,” he added.

As per news agency ANI, the officers were in the area to conduct an anti-encroachment drive. A clash between the two led to a heated argument which caused the thrashing and abusing.

Vijayvargiya can be heard threatening in the video, saying, “Leave in five minutes or else, whatever happens, will be your responsibility.”

According to reports, the officer had come to the area to demolish a building in the Ganji Compound area that was allegedly illegal. Attempting to stop the municipal officer from giving the order, the BJP MLA started hitting him with a bat while his supporters joined him in the violence.

By the time the police reached the spot, the situation had simmered down.

Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was quoted by ANI as saying on Wednesday, “As per the high command’s decision, incumbent ministers in Punjab who do not succeed in ensuring a victory for the Congress will be dropped from the Cabinet.” This is particular about the respective constituencies that these ministers represent. Punjab has 13 Lok Sabha seats and four of those are reserved for the Scheduled Castes — Hoshiarpur, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Saheb and Jalandhar. The other seats are Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Bathinda, Sangrur and Patiala.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the BJP-Shiromani Akali Dal combine won six of the 13 seats in the state riding on the Narendra Modi-wave while the Aam Aadmi Party made a striking debut by winning four seats. The Congress got just three seats.

However, in the 2017 Assembly elections, the Congress managed to win 77 of the 177 seats, followed by AAP which won 20 seats. SAD got 15 seats while BJP could manage only three seats. The Lok Insaaf Party won two seats as well.

So in these elections, Congress would be banking on its Assembly win, and that’s why the Cabinet ministers have also been given the responsibility of ensuring a win, while BJP is hoping to cash in on the recent Balakot airstrike following the February 14 Pulwama terror attack.

The present state government will also be hoping that the recent farm loan waiver and crackdown against terror modules will tip the balance in its favour. The state goes to polls on May 19 in the last phase of the seven-phase election.

As reported by Hindustan Times, at least 2.8 lakh candidates from Bihar have applied for the course, 1.95 lakh from Uttar Pradesh, 1.91 lakh from Madhya Pradesh, and 1.69 lakh from West Bengal. NIOS informed that from the applications received, 12 lakh are untrained teachers, 9.25 lakh are from private schools, and 3.53 lakh are from government schools.

Application for the course:

1. To apply for the course, a candidate must have scored at least 50 per cent in their Class 12 examinations.
2. A senior official told Hindustan Times that the course will be offered through Dish TV’s online education and knowledge platform called ‘Swayam’.
3. There is also a mobile application available that will help to solve any queries these teachers will have.

The course will have four semesters and total 1,080 lectures will be conducted in 10 different languages.

Sony’s upcoming show Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai stars newbies Randeep Rai and Arshi Sharma, who will be essaying lead characters Sameer and Naina respectively on the show. Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai has been bankrolled and written by Shashi and Sumeet Mittal (who also wrote Pehredaar Piya Ki). This love story is based on their real life love story. Well, the show is set in the early 90s and it will focus mainly on that era. From Doordarshan, cassettes to greeting cards and poems, this love story will make you feel nostalgic.

The channel is all set for another new show titled Haasil, which features Bollywood actors Zayed Khan and Vatsal Sheth and TV actress Nikita Dutta. The show is touted to be thriller drama. Looks like Sony TV has switched to love stories and thrillers as they garner a lot of popularity just like Beyhadh, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, among others.

सीएम योगी ने इस मौके पर पार्टी पदाधिकारियों को फलाहार पर भी बुलाया है। योगी नवरात्र पर 9 दिनों के उपवास पर हैं। ये कार्यक्रम आज शाम 5 बजे से शुरू होगा। पूजा पाठ के बाद ही योगी सीएम आवास में प्रवेश करेंगे। इससे पहले आज सीएम लखनऊ में होने वाले योगी महोत्सव में भी हिस्सा लेंगे।

आज से 9 दिन का व्रत  

सीएम योगी आदित्यनाथ हमेशा की तरह इस बार भी नवरात्र व्रत रखेंगे। 29 मार्च से पांच अप्रैल तक के नवरात्र में वे फलाहार पर ही रहेंगे। देश के दूसरे हिस्सों में 28 मार्च से ही नवरात्र शुरू हो गया, लेकिन गोरखपुर मंदिर में आज से पूजा होती है। ऐसे में यूपी के कई जिलों में आज से नवरात्रि की शुरुआत हो रही है। बता दें कि पीएम मोदी भी नवरात्र पर व्रत रखते हैं और फलाहार पर ही रहते हैं।

शीला से सवाल किया गया था कि राहुल के आक्रामक प्रचार के बावजूद कांग्रेस को हार मिल रही है। इसके जवाब में उन्होंने कहा, ‘देखिए, हम बदलावों के दौर से गुजर रहे हैं। यह पीढ़ी का परिवर्तन है और राजनीति का भी जहां हम कुछ साल पहले खड़े थे। आज राजनीतिक भाषा बदल चुकी है।’ शीला ने पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी के बयानों का हवाला देते हुए कहा कि आप पीएम से उम्मीद नहीं कर सकते हैं कि वह पूर्व पीएम मनमोहन सिंह पर बोलेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि यह दृष्टिकोण, भाषा और रिश्तों का बदलाव है और कांग्रेस खुद को अडजस्ट कर रही है। शीला ने आगे जोड़ा कि देखिए राहुल अभी भी मैच्योर नहीं हैं, उनकी उम्र उन्हें इसकी इजाजत नहीं देती है। वह उम्र के 40वें पड़ाव पर हैं। उन्हें थोड़ा और वक्त दीजिए। कांग्रेस विकास में यकीन रखती है और एक राहुल ही हैं जो किसानों की बात करते हैं।

राहुल गांधी को और कितना वक्त चाहिए ? इस सावल के जवाब में शीला दीक्षित ने कहा, ‘उन्होंने काफी कुछ सीखा है। वे अभी तक प्रधानमंत्री इसलिए नहीं बने क्योंकि अभी ऐसा मौका आना बाकी है लेकिन वो मेहनत कर रहे हैं। वो लोगों से मिल रहे हैं और उन्हें पता है कि किसी से अपनी बात कैसे कहनी चाहिए। मुझे लगता है वो जो भी करते हैं वो स्वाभाविक है लेकिन अगर किसी को ऐसा नहीं लगता तो आने वक्त में उन्हें भी ऐसा लगेगा।’

खुद को यूपी में प्रचार से अलग कर लेने के सवाल पर शीला ने कहा कि यह कहना गलत होगा कि मैंने कैंपेनिंग करना बंद कर दिया है। जबसे मैं वापस आई हूं, पार्टी ने जहां भी भेजा, मैं गई हूं। मुझे कानपुर और बनारस जाना था लेकिन तबीयत खराब होने की वजह से मैं जा नहीं सकी। अब मैं ठीक हो गई हूं और जल्द बनारस जाउंगी।

शीला दीक्षित दिल्ली में आम आदमी पार्टी (आप) से हार मिलने के बाद यूपी विधानसभा चुनाव में पार्टी की सीएम उम्मीदवार थीं लेकिन चुनाव शुरू होने से ठीक पहले कांग्रेस ने समाजवादी पार्टी से गठबंधन कर लिया था जिसके बाद अखिलेश यादव गठबंधन के सीएम उम्मीदवार बन गए।
