Dilip Shanghvi is an Indian billionaire businessman who founded Sun Pharmaceuticals. As the founder, Dilip is one of the country’s richest people and has his business spread across more than 100 countries. Due to his world-wide services, the Government of India awarded him the civilian honor of the Padma Shri in 2016.
Vidhi Shanghvi, the daughter of Dilip Shanghvi has gained attention due to her role in the Rs 4.35 lakh crore healthcare empire of the Sun Pharma. Vidhi is also the heiress of the Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (along with brother Aalok Shanghvi).
Getting into the business empire of Sun Pharma, Vidhi is currently the Vice President and Head of Consumer Healthcare, Nutrition, and India Distribution in Sun Pharma. She is also a non-executive director at Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company (SPARC), which a is a Sun Pharma’s subsidiary focused on clinical-stage biopharmaceutical products.
Vidhi, with her Economics degree from the prestigious Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, is all set to step into her father’s shoes, as per The Economic Times. Her father, Dilip Shanghvi, considered the richest healthcare tycoon in India, reportedly amasses a whopping $29.2 billion wealth as of December 15, 2024, according to Forbes.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Sun Pharma) is the fourth largest specialty generic pharmaceutical company in the world. With global revenues of US$ 5.4 billion, Sun Pharma provides high-quality, affordable medicines. On its website, it has also boasts that it is trusted by healthcare professionals and patients in more than 100 countries across the globe.
Apart from this, Sun Pharma claims that is the first among Indian pharmaceutical companies to realise and embrace the importance of investing in research, where they have claimed to invest up to 6-8% of their global revenues into Research and Development (R&D) every year.
