Big twist in Russia-Ukraine war as Russian troops capture Ukrainian city of...,Vladimir Putin now plans to...

New Delhi: The war between Russia and Ukraine will complete three years in February 2025. In 2022, the powerful Russian army entered Ukraine and unleashed the most lethal attacks, culminating into mass destruction. The attacks are still on, however, the difference is that Ukrainian forces are no longer just on the defensive; they have adopted an offensive approach, striking inside Russian territory as well.

However, ahead of the new year, Ukraine suffered a major setback after the Russian forces captured another city in the eastern Donetsk region. The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed this development. This area was critical for the Ukrainian army because it served as a supply hub for Ukrainian fighters operating inside Russia. The region is strategically important as it lies close to the Russian border.

The NATO countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, have been supporting Zelensky with weapons and funds. Ukraine has maintained control over certain areas in Russia’s Kursk region. Russia, with the assistance of North Korean soldiers, is striving to reclaim these territories. Meanwhile, on Monday, Russia announced that it had taken control of another city as part of its ongoing campaign in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the forces have captured the village of Novotroitske. It is located about 12 kilometers (7.4 miles) southwest of the city of Pokrovsk. This area is of significant importance to the Russian military as it forms a key part of Moscow’s campaign in Ukraine.

Major blow for Ukraine

Novotroitske, which borders Russia, was serving as a key logistics hub for Ukraine’s army in the region. There has been intense fighting between the Ukrainian and Russian armies in Russia’s Kursk region. The Ukrainian army has held control over most parts of Kursk for months. Here, they are not only fighting Russian forces but also North Korean soldiers.

Now, with the capture of the neighboring city of Novotroitske by Russia, Ukrainian soldiers could face increased difficulties. This is part of Russia’s military strategy.
