New Delhi: Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar has reportedly suffered a heart attack. Azhar, who is reportedly in Afghanistan’s Khost province, was immediately transported from Afghanistan to Pakistan following the incident. Masood Azhar is currently undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Karachi. However, there is no update yet on his current condition.

According to the reports, cardiologists from Islamabad are also arriving in Karachi to treat Masood Azhar. It is likely that he will soon be taken to Rawalpindi’s largest and most well-equipped military hospital. Terrorist Maulana Masood Azhar was sent to Pakistan via the Gorbaz area of the Khost province.

Why Was Terrorist Masood Released in 1999?

Masood Azhar is one of India’s most wanted terrorists. In 2019, the Modi government officially designated Azhar and another Pakistani terrorist, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba, as “terrorists” under the stringent anti-terror law UAPA.

In December 1999, Masood Azhar was released in exchange for passengers during the hijacking of a flight from Kathmandu to Kandahar. Following his release, he went on to establish the deadly terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed.
