Tehran: Iran, which is constantly living with the fear of an attack by Israel and America, is now creating a new unit of fighter jets. The Iranian Air Force has recently received the first batch of Sukhoi 35 fighter jets from Russia. Now there is also a discussion in the Arab media that Iran can buy JF-17 Thunder fighter jets jointly built by Pakistan and China.

The chief of Iran’s Air Force recently visited Pakistan to discuss the deal. Earlier, Azerbaijan had also purchased JF-17 fighter jets from Pakistan. At the same time, the Myanmar Air Force is regretting buying JF-17 fighter jets from Pakistan. These aircraft have been standing idle since they were purchased and are not any good than junk in the midst of the civil war.

The commander of Iran’s Air Force, Brigadier General Hamid Wahidi, recently visited Pakistan. He was accompanied by a team of senior officials. During this visit, Wahidi witnessed the Indus Shield 2024 air exercise. He also met the Chief of the Pakistani Air Force.

Arab media claims that the purpose of this visit of the Iranian Air Force Chief was to acquire JF-17 fighter jets. It has been made in Pakistan with the help of China. Iran is eyeing Block 3 of JF-17, which is claimed to be quite modern.

China refuses to supply J-10C aircraft

Iran wanted China to give it the J-10C fighter jet, which it has given to Pakistan, but the matter got stuck over money. China wanted Iran to pay cash for the planes, but Tehran wanted to sell oil in exchange for these planes. Since tensions with Israel, Iran has been trying to strengthen its biggest weakness, the Air Force. Many Western countries have imposed sanctions against Iran, due to which it is unable to buy fighter jets.

Due to the ban of Western countries, Iran is currently flying F-14 Tomcat, F-5 and F-4 aircraft made in 1979 by the USA. This aircraft was bought by Iran from the US before the Islamic Revolution.

Recently, Iran has signed a deal with Russia for Sukhoi-35 fighter jets. These planes will be assembled in Iran itself. The deal between Russia and Iran is seen as a sign of growing defence cooperation. Earlier, Iran had sold a large number of attack drones and missiles to Russia. Analysts say Iran could build up to 100 Sukhoi 35 fighter jets in the near future.
