New Delhi: With barely a few hours remaining before the new year 2025 sets in, Israel has still got no respite from the continuous attacks launched by the resistance forces.

Yemen's Houthi rebels have launched a new front of war by firing missiles at Israeli areas. On the other hand, Hamas is putting a fight even as the conditions for a ceasefire are being talked upon.

Israel is now involved into direct combat at three fronts. Israel's war with Hamas and Hezbollah continues. On the other hand, talks between Hamas and Israel over the ceasefire in Gaza have come to a halt. Israeli media reported that Hamas had to release 34 prisoners according to the condition, but Hamas has reneged at the last moment.

All this is happening at a time when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is hospitalized after prostate surgery.

The Israeli military said late Monday that its air defense system intercepted a ballistic missile fired at Israel from Yemen. However, the attacks caused sirens to sound throughout central Israel. This is the seventh attack in less than two weeks. The military said the missile was intercepted before it could enter Israeli airspace.

Sirens began to sound in central Israel after 11 p.m. The wreckage of the missile caused no major damage, but a large fragment of it fell in the Ramat Beit Shemesh Aleph area of the city of Beit Shemesh near Jerusalem.

Israel warns Houthis

"We are just starting with them," Netanyahu was quoted as saying by The Times of Israel. "We will not allow them to attack Israel these days, today and any day. We will strike a final blow at them until they learn. As I said, Hamas learned, Hezbollah learned, Syria learned, now the Houthis will also learn."

Hamas rejects ceasefire

The Hamas has rejected a list of hostages Israel says should be freed during the first phase of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, the Kan public broadcaster reported.

According to the report, Hamas is willing to release 22 of the 34 hostages on the list, but is refusing to release the other 12. The report said the Gaza-based Hamas offered to release 22 surviving hostages and 12 bodies during the first phase of the agreement.

The report says that Israel has refused to accept this proposal of Hamas. It has said that under the ceasefire agreement, Hamas would have to return 34 prisoners alive in the first phase. The report did not provide details on the hostages Hamas has refused the proposal.

Egypt's Al-Ghad outlet reported that Israel has requested the inclusion of 11 people whom Hamas considers Israeli soldiers in the list of hostages to be released in the first phase of a possible deal.
