White House Principal Deputy National Security Advisor John Finer has announced that the US is changing export control policies under its Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). The change in US law is aimed at further strengthening cooperation between India and the USA in the space and missile sector.

What is MTCR?

The MTCR is an agreement that was drafted in 1986 to prevent the spread of missiles and their technologies. India became a member of this agreement in 2016. However, due to some limitations of MTCR, there is a partnership between Indian and American companies. Therefore, the US has now decided that it will remove all these obstacles so that Indian and American companies can work together.

After the change in the rules of MTCR, now both countries will be able to deal with critical technology with each other. India's space missions like Mangalyaan and Chandrayaan have surprised the whole world. America's space agency NASA has also praised India's success. Now America wants to work together with India so that both countries can achieve new heights in the field of space.
