Hezbollah is a Shiite militant group based in Lebanon, formed in the 1980s with strong ties to Iran. They focus on resistance against Israel and have significant political influence in Lebanon.
On the other hand, Hamas is a Sunni Islamist group based in the Gaza Strip, formed in the late 1980s. While both groups oppose Israel, they have different ideologies, strategies, and areas of operation.
Since October 8, the day after Hamas’ deadly attack on Israel, there has been ongoing cross-border fire between Hezbollah and the Israeli military. Hezbollah initially fired at Israel to protest the war in Gaza.
The situation is tense, and many are watching closely to see how it unfolds. Last week, tensions increased when Israel injured thousands of people in Lebanon. This happened after they targeted devices used by Hezbollah, like pagers and walkie-talkies.
According to CNN reports, In the past year, there have been many clashes between Israel and Hezbollah. Over 62,000 people in northern Israel have had to leave their homes, and sadly, 26 civilians and 22 soldiers have died.
In Lebanon, the situation is worse. More than 94,000 people were displaced before recent fighting, and over 740 people were killed, including around 500 Hezbollah fighters. Since Monday, Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 558 more people and displaced another 16,500 in Lebanon.
Israel is a small country with limited military forces. As it gets ready for a possible second war, the IDF is moving some important troops from Gaza to the northern border. Mizrahi mentioned that when you’re fighting on multiple fronts, you can’t focus too much on each one. This means that the way they fight might change.
