New Delhi: India is home to some of the wealthiest and most influential businessmen, including Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Cyrus Poonawalla, and Ratan Tata. While many of India’s wealthiest business families often get attention, there are lesser-known family members making important contributions behind the scenes. Meet lesser-known members of India’s richest business families.
While Mukesh Ambani is a household name in the global business world, his sister, Nina Kothari, prefers to stay out of the spotlight. Nina has built a successful entrepreneurial career of her own, serving as the owner of Kothari Petrochemicals and the chairperson of Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Limited. Her journey began in 2003 when she launched Javagreen, a coffee and food franchise that gained notable success. Despite her brother’s prominence, Nina has focused on growing her businesses quietly, choosing to let her accomplishments speak for themselves rather than seek public recognition.
She held various positions in prestigious institutions such as Treasurer of Crafts Council of India, World Crafts Council, and Chairman of the National Crafts & Heritage Committee of ASSOCHAM. During 2006–07, she was the President of the International Womens’ Association (IWA). She has contributed more in the areas for the upliftment of women in India.
Arjun B. Kothari, the son of Nina Kothari, plays a crucial role in carrying forward the family’s business legacy. Arjun holds a directorship in H C Kothari Group of Companies. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois; United States of America & Global Health and European Politics from the Paris Institute of Political Studies, Paris, France.
