While Tina secured the All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the UPSC CSE Main Exam 2015, Athar ranked second in the UPSC Civil Services exam. The state government has granted promotions to 27 IAS officers, 45 IPS officers, and 29 IFS officers ahead of the New Year. The Department of Personnel has issued separate orders for these promotions. Following the promotions, these officers will continue to hold their current positions for now. The orders were slated to come into effect from January 1, 2025.

As per a notification, IAS officers Tina Dabi (2016 batch), Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan (proforma promotion), Artika Shukla (2016 batch), and others have been promoted from the Senior Pay Scale to the Junior Administrative Pay Scale (Level 12) of the Indian Administrative Service. Prior to this, Tina was posted as Barmer District Collector. Meanwhile, Athar Aamir is the District Magistrate and District Development Commissioner of Kulgam, Jammu & Kashmir.

A total of nine IAS officers have been promoted from Senior Scale to the Junior Administrative Scale. The officers include Tina Dabi, Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan (proforma promotion), Jasmeet Singh Sandhu, Dr. Amit Yadav, Pratap Singh, Dr. Manju, Dr. Ravindra Goswami, Rohitashwa Singh Tomar, and Artika Shukla.

Ria Dabi, Tina Dabi’s younger sister, followed in her elder sister’s footsteps and cracked the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2020. Ria, a 2021 batch IAS officer, was promoted from the Junior Scale to the Senior Scale.

A total of six IAS officers were promoted from the Junior scale to the Senior scale. They are Gaurav Budania, Ria Dabi, Ravi Kumar, Avhad Nivrutti Somanath, Juikar Pratik Chandrashekhar, Salukhe Gaurav Ravindra. After completing her schooling at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in New Delhi, IAS officer Ria Dabi, just like her elder sister, graduated from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi. She graduated with a degree in political science. IAS Ria Dabi cleared the UPSC in her first attempt, at the age of 23. According to the media reports, Ria Dabi has been serving as the Sub Divisional Officer and Magistrate (SDM) in Girwa, Udaipur.

According to the HindustanTimes report, the Centre has granted prosecution sanction to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Kumar Rajeev Ranjan. He is implicated in the notorious arms license scam of Jammu and Kashmir. Ranjan, who served as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jammu at the time, was one of nine IAS officers accused of issuing arms licenses to undeserving individuals in Jammu and Kashmir in exchange for monetary benefits.

Hailing from Bihar, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan is a 2010 batch Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre IAS officer. If media reports are believed, Ranjan secured the All India Rank (AIR) 866th in the UPSC Civil Services examination.

Holding a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Vinoba Bhave University, Ranjan graduated with first-division honors. Following his success in the UPSC examination, he became an IAS officer. After completing his training at LBSNAA, his career began with his first posting as Deputy Secretary in the Revenue Department.

In addition, IAS officer Kumar Rajeev Ranjan has held several important positions. Previously, he served as the CEO of the Jammu and Kashmir Land Records Management Agency. He has also held the position of Commissioner for Survey and Land Records in Jammu and Kashmir.

Presently, the central government has granted the CBI permission to prosecute Jammu and Kashmir’s Revenue Secretary, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, over alleged irregularities in the issuance of gun licenses. This makes him the first IAS officer to face such a prosecution sanction in this matter.

In June 2023, Mohammad Sahil Akhtar cracked the IIT-JEE entrance test. He obtained an All India Rank (AIR) of 99 in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. After securing such an impressive rank, Sahil decided not to join an IIT and dropped out of IIT counselling.

It is reported that Akhtar began preparing for the IIT entrance exams from Class 10. However, in an unexpected move, he chose to withdraw from the JEE admission process and follow his dreams by pursuing an education at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) instead.

As per his LinkedIn profile, Kumar completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Texas at Austin. He scored 292 marks in JEE Mains. Satyam has been a brilliant student from a young age, and he made history by becoming the youngest to crack one of India’s toughest exams at just 13 years old. Satyam was born in the Bhojpur district of Bihar. He comes from a humble background. His father, Sidhnath Singh, is a poor farmer. Going by the news agency PTI report (2013), Satyam’s uncle, Pashupati Singh, a clerk at Veer Kuer Singh College, shared that Satyam had no formal schooling until grade 8th due to the family’s financial struggles and the lack of adequate educational resources at the local government school.

Satyam began his formal education in 2007 when he enrolled in the eighth grade. After passing the Rajasthan board exams, he was admitted to Modern School in Kota. According to his uncle, Pashupati Singh, the principal of the school, R.K. IPS Amrit Jain hails from Bhilwara, Rajasthan. He earned his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from NIT Warangal and pursued higher studies at Czech Technical University. Later, he started working for a private company in Hyderabad. Soon, he developed the desire to appear for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

Amrit Jain, hailing from a modest background, took the UPSC examination for the first time in 2016 without any preparation. Reflecting on it, he admits he was overly confident, thinking that only multiple-choice questions would be asked. Naturally, this approach resulted in failure. Determined to succeed, he came fully prepared for the exam in 2017, but narrowly missed passing the prelims by just one mark.

In several media interviews, Amrit has mentioned that he did not take any coaching for UPSC preparation. After failing the prelims by just one mark, he decided to change his strategy. He began consulting multiple sources for the static portion, which was unusual but worked for him. Additionally, he took 140 mock tests within a time limit of 1 to 1.5 hours.

Amit strongly advocates for taking plenty of mock tests. He believes that giving numerous mock tests greatly helped him during the actual exam. As a result, he read the questions at least three times during the exam and remained calm and composed. This helped him perform well in the exam. Amit had chosen political science as his optional subject for the UPSC.

He attempted the UPSC exams in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. In 2018, he secured a spot on the reserve list and was selected for the Indian Defence Accounts Service. In the following years, he achieved ranks of 321, 96, and 179 in 2019, 2020, and 2021, respectively. Although he cleared the UPSC exam four times, he fell short of his dream of becoming an IAS officer. However, he doesn’t regret it, acknowledging that not everyone achieves the coveted IAS position, despite striving for it during UPSC preparation.

Amrit Jain cleared the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2019 with AIR 321. Speaking of his UPSC marks, he scored 802 in the written examination, 165 in the personality test, and 967 overall. As per the Dainik Bhaskar’s report, Praveen Gupta, the Principal Secretary of PWD, and Bhaskar A. Sawant, the Principal Secretary of PHED, have been elevated to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). They have advanced from Above Super Time to the Chief Secretary pay scale. Siddharth Sihag, Joint Secretary to the Chief Minister, has also been promoted, moving from the Junior Administrative Scale to the Selection Scale. With this promotion, Sihag now holds the position of Special Secretary.

Siddharth Sihag and his wife, Rukmini Riyad, were promoted together, along with Barmer Collector Tina Dabi and her sister, Ria Dabi. According to Dainik Bhaskar’s report, Tina, a 2016 batch IAS officer, has been elevated from the Senior Scale to the Junior Administrative Scale, while Ria, a 2021 batch IAS officer, was promoted from the Junior Scale to the Senior Scale. Kamya Mishra decided to step down from her role for personal matters on the 6th of August, 2024. Before clearing the UPSC Civil Services exam, she reportedly qualified for the University Grants Commission–National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) examination.

In an interview, Pari shared that during her preparation, she led a disciplined life, often resembling a monk’s lifestyle. She focused all her energy on her studies and overcame the challenges that came her way. At the age of 23, her hard work bore fruit, and she was appointed as an IAS officer.

In 2023, Pari Vishnoi married Bhavya Bishnoi, the grandson of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Bishnoi. Following her posting in Sikkim, she worked as an SDM in Gangtok. After her marriage, she requested a change of cadre and is now serving in Haryana, contributing her expertise to the state’s development.

Malvika Raj Joshi had an extraordinary aptitude for solving mathematical equations and exceptional expertise in computer programming. Despite her brilliance, she was overlooked by India’s prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) due to unconventional circumstances.

Malvika was eligible for admission to any IIT but was denied because she hadn’t taken the standard Class 10 and 12 board exams, a mandatory requirement for IIT admissions. Yet, Malvika persevered, achieved remarkable success, and made her parents proud.

At a young age, Malvika’s mother chose a very unconventional path for her. Supriya, Supriya’s mother, decided to homeschool her after she completed Class 7. She was studying at Dadar Parsee Youth Assembly School in Mumbai. Supriya took Malvika’s education seriously and designed a personalised curriculum for her. The mother sacrificed her job for the bright future of her beloved daughter.

Despite not getting a traditional education at school, Malvika excelled in programming and mathematics. She was able to join Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) for an MSc-level course, as her knowledge and skills were considered equivalent to a BSc degree student.

She also started participating in global programming competitions. Excelling in these competitions, ultimately earned her a place at MIT.

When she was only 17 years old, Malvika showcased remarkable abilities that piqued the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) interest in America. Her exceptional achievements, including three medal wins from the International Olympiad of Informatics, awarded her with a scholarship. These prestigious laurels served as a testament to her potential, allowing her to bypass the usual educational protocols.

The journey of Divya Tanwar started from a small village named Nimbi located in Mahendragarh, where her childhood was full of financial constraints. Divya, who was barely 21 years old in 2021 tried her first attempt at the UPSC CSE exam and managed an impressive All India Rank of 438. With this impressive show, she became one of the youngest IPS officers in the country. However, she was not satisfied with this and she continued to work hard and in 2022 she cleared the exam again, and this time, with the AIR 105, helping her achieve her dream of becoming an IAS officer. As of today, IAS Divya is working under the Manipur cadre.

Hailing from Rajasthan’s Jaipur, Kanishak Kataria graduated in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and quickly landed a high-paying job with Samsung in South Korea. Despite his high-paying salary, reportedly Rs 1 crore, Kanishak’s dream was to become an Indian Administrative Service officer.

Speaking of his education, Kanishak studied at St. Paul’s Senior Secondary School in Kota. Reportedly, he even scored Rank 44th in IIT JEE. In 2010, he took admission at IIT Bombay, where he pursued a Bachelors in Technology with Honors in Computer Science and Engineering, with a minor in Applied Statistics. He soon secured a lucrative job with Samsung in South Korea. Despite his impressive salary, Kanishak’s true ambition was to serve as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.

Inspired by his father, Sanwar Mal Verma, an IAS officer and Director of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department in Rajasthan, Kanishak decided to follow in his footsteps and pursue his true passion for public service.

In an interview with a media outlet, Mishra revealed that he comes from a family with no prior professional background. Hailing from Karnaprayag, Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, Mudra Gairola has always been a good student. While her schooling is concerned, she scored 96% in the Class 10th examination and 97% in Class 12th. Notably, she was honored for her achievements by Kiran Bedi, the first woman IPS officer.

After completing her schooling, Mudra pursued a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) at a medical college in Mumbai, where she was awarded the prestigious gold medal. Following her undergraduate studies, Mudra moved to Delhi to pursue a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) program.

As per her LinkedIn account, Kinjal scored 690 out of 800 in the ICAI Intermediate examination in 2021. Meanwhile, she scored 609 out of 800 in the CS Executive examination. Hailing from Kolkata, Kinjal attributes her success to her family and teachers. Her father, a practicing chartered accountant with his own firm, was instrumental in shaping her aspirations. Kinjal’s mother, a homemaker, helped her achieve her goal.

In the ICAI CA Final examination, she scored 85 marks in financial reporting and advanced financial management, respectively. She scored 84 marks in the Integrated Business Solutions (Multidisciplinary Case Study with Strategic Management). Overall, she scored 493 marks.

The 23-year-old opted for online coaching to balance her demanding articleship schedule. She followed a disciplined routine, dedicating early mornings from 6 am to 9 am for studies before heading to the office. After returning home, she continued her preparation post-dinner and used weekends for extended study sessions.

While speaking to Indian Express, she shared, “Taking out a few hours every day and making the most of weekends was crucial.” Kinjal recognizes the immense pressure of being a consistent topper. “Each paper is equally challenging, and the syllabus is vast,” she told IndianExpress.

To manage this, her strategy was to break the syllabus into smaller, manageable sections and tackle them in a systematic way. This approach not only reduced the pressure but also ensured comprehensive preparation.

Meanwhile, no such orders have been issued for Noida. However, several private schools there have preponed their winter vacations to Saturday as a precautionary measure.

Speaking of holidays, the Directorate of School Education, Haryana, has announced a winter break for students in all private and government schools from January 1 to 15, 2025. According to the official notice, all the schools in the state will be closed from January 1, 2025, to January 15, 2025. The schools will be reopened as usual from January 16, 2025. However, students may be required to attend school for practical exams as per the schedule prescribed for board classes (10th and 12th) according to the CBSE and ICSE board norms.
